Tourists may be offered package tickets

Tourist Transport Package

Sri Lanka government is considering a combined prepaid ticket covering both transport and entrance tickets to all major tourist sites.

This may be made available to tourists from December, Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath said.

The ticket could be bought online, he said. The tickets may come in several categories, such as silver, gold and platinum, and be priced according to the package the visitors choose.

“December is the high season for tourists, and this will be launched to coincide with that period,” Minister Herath said.

He said national parks, heritage and cultural triangle sites, and similar places will be included in the tickets.

So far this year more than 1.8 million tourists have arrived in the country, while around 700,000 more are expected to come in November and December 2025.
